1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CareerLah ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These terms apply to all visitors, users, and anyone who accesses or uses the Service, including guests (unauthenticated) and registered account holders.

2. Description of Service

CareerLah is an AI-powered career platform that helps you take control of your job search. The Service includes:

• Job Fit Analyser: Paste a job description or URL and receive an AI-generated fit score, skills gap breakdown, interview prep questions, and a tailored action plan
• Resume Analyser: Upload your resume for an honest critique — strengths, gaps, and actionable improvements, no job listing required
• Career Discovery: Describe your background and preferences — we surface 6 roles you're a strong fit for, weighted by your Holland Code (RIASEC) personality profile, with target companies included
• Career Profile (RIASEC): Complete a 30-question personality quiz to discover your Holland Code and the career types that suit you most
• Resume Generator: Generate an ATS-friendly 1-page resume tailored to a specific role, downloadable as a Word document
• Cover Letter Generator: Generate a formal, role-specific cover letter based on your profile and the job description, with preview and download
• Application Tracker: Track your job applications end-to-end — status, links, activity logs, and analytics
• History: View and revisit past analyses and discoveries (registered users only)

The Service is provided as-is and is intended for informational and self-improvement purposes only. It does not constitute professional career advice, recruitment services, or employment guarantees.

3. User Accounts

You may use CareerLah as a guest (without registering) or create a registered account. When creating an account you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Keep your login credentials confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
• Be solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice.

You may delete your account at any time from your Profile page. Upon deletion, all associated data — including saved profiles and analysis history — is permanently removed.

4. Your Data & Privacy

What we collect

• Account data: Your name and email address when you register
• Profile data: Resume text or profile descriptions you choose to save
• Analysis history: Job fit results you run while logged in
• Usage data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited)

What we do not collect

• We do not store the original resume files you upload — only the extracted text (and only if you choose to save it)
• We do not collect payment information — the Service is free
• We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising trackers

How we use your data

• To operate and improve the Service
• To provide you with analysis history and saved profile features
• To send service-related communications (no marketing emails)

Third-party services

CareerLah uses the following third-party services:

• OpenAI API: Your profile and job description text are sent to OpenAI's servers to generate analysis. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to this data.
• Supabase: User account and analysis data is stored in a Supabase-managed PostgreSQL database. Supabase's privacy policy applies.
• Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, Google's authentication service is used. We receive only your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

5. AI-Generated Content

All fit scores, skills gap analyses, career discoveries, resume reviews, generated resumes, cover letters, and recommendations are produced by an AI language model (OpenAI GPT). You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not fully applicable to your specific situation
• Fit scores are indicative estimates, not definitive assessments of your suitability for any role
• Generated resumes and cover letters are starting points — you should carefully review, personalise, and fact-check them before sending to any employer. They may not be exhaustive or capture all of your experience accurately
• Career Discovery results are suggestions based on your profile and RIASEC scores — they may not reflect current job market conditions or employer requirements
• Recommendations should be treated as suggestions, not professional career advice
• Results may vary between sessions even for the same input
• CareerLah is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any employer or job platform

Always review AI-generated documents thoroughly before submitting them. Apply your own judgment and consult qualified career professionals for important decisions.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent profile information
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service's APIs
• Circumvent rate limits or access restrictions
• Upload content that contains malware, viruses, or harmful code
• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Infringe the intellectual property rights of others

7. Intellectual Property

The CareerLah application, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by its creators. All rights are reserved.

You retain ownership of any content you submit (resume text, profile descriptions). By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process it for the purpose of providing the Service.

AI-generated analysis outputs are provided to you for personal use. You may use them freely for your own career purposes.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or availability.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CareerLah and its creators shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service
• Decisions made based on AI-generated analysis
• Data loss, service interruptions, or unauthorised access beyond our reasonable control
• Outcomes of job applications influenced by our recommendations

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users.
